Golden light through the trees of a forest at daybreak

ZAKAYEN

Roaming live performance

“Before we perform, we listen. The landscape becomes our first partner.”

The show

The landscape becomes the stage.

Zakayen is a live performance created with the place that hosts it. A forest, a riverbank, a park, the heart of a village… Each landscape transforms the performance.

Acrobats, musicians, dancers and aerial artists come to meet it. Percussion, violin, harp, voices and the sounds already present in the place blend with the movements of the bodies.

The show does not seek to set a stage in the landscape. The landscape becomes the stage.

The audience is invited into this encounter, to move, to look differently and to share, for a moment, another way of inhabiting the living world.

Why “Zakayen”?

Venez voir.

Come and see.

In Fang, Zakayen literally means “Venez voir” (“Come and see”). But the expression carries a deeper invitation. It calls us to come and share a moment that matters: a birth, a celebration, a meeting, an instant lived together.

Zakayen does not only invite you to watch. It invites you to come, to draw closer, to feel and to live something together.

The audience is then no longer simply spectators. It becomes part of a moment shared between the artists, the landscape and the living world.

We do not create in nature.
We create with it.

Our approach

Taking the time to listen.

Every place has its rhythm, its light, its sounds, its reliefs and its history. Before creating, we take the time to listen to it.

At the crossroads of circus, dance, live music and poetry, Zakayen seeks less to demonstrate than to make people feel. Virtuosity becomes a language in service of an encounter between the artists, the audience and the landscape.

Creating with the living world also means taking care of it. Our ecological approach takes the form of simple, concrete gestures: respecting the spaces that host us, limiting our footprint and, after we leave, leaving each place cleaner than we found it.
